Iris is a west Ottawa neighbourhood developed in the early 1960s, at the same time as neighbouring Qualicum. Originally part of Queensway Terrace North, the 1967 construction of Highway 417 split the area, creating the separate Iris neighbourhood south of the highway. Also known as Ridgeview, the neighbourhood features Barbara Ann Scott Arena and Ridgeview Park.

About Iris

Iris was developed in the early 1960s during the same period as neighbouring Qualicum. Originally part of Queensway Terrace North, the neighbourhood's history changed dramatically in 1967 when Highway 417 (the Queensway) was constructed through the area, splitting the original community.

The neighbourhood south of the highway became Iris, also known as Ridgeview. Landmarks include Barbara Ann Scott Arena (named for the Olympic figure skating champion), Ridgeview Park, and Pinecrest Public School.

The City of Ottawa is currently improving the Baseline Road and Greenbank Road intersection with dedicated bus priority lanes, new sidewalks, and cycle tracks, reflecting the area's importance as a transit corridor.

Iris is bounded by Highway 417 to the north, Baseline Road to the south, Woodroffe Avenue to the east, and Greenbank Road to the west. The neighbourhood includes the communities of Kenson Park, Parkway Park, and Pinecrest Terrace.
