Rockcliffe Park was founded in 1864 by Thomas Keefer according to the Picturesque landscape tradition, with roads curving around varied topography, mature trees, rocky outcroppings, and a lake. This 19th-century planning philosophy has been carefully preserved, making Rockcliffe Park one of only a handful of surviving communities of its kind in North America.
