Contractors in Cyrville

Cyrville is a mixed residential and industrial neighbourhood founded in 1853 by Michel Cyr as a francophone farming village. Located within the former City of Gloucester, the area is now home to the Cyrville Industrial Area alongside residential developments. The Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes-de-Cyrville church, built in 1871, served as the spiritual centre for the original French Catholic community.

About Cyrville

Cyrville was founded in 1853 when Michel Cyr purchased lot 27 in the 2nd Concession of Gloucester Township. The village's founding settlers were French Catholics, and the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes-de-Cyrville church, built in 1871, became the spiritual centre of the community.

The Canadian National Railway was built through the village in 1909, but was removed in the 1930s. The right-of-way was later used for a powerline corridor, contributing to the 'tangle of freeways and utility corridors' that characterizes parts of the area today.

Modern residential development came to the north part of the neighbourhood (sometimes called Cummings) in the late 1970s and 1980s. In the mid-2000s, Richcraft Homes developed the Place des Gouverneurs condominium off Ogilvie Road, adding newer housing options to the area.

Location & Boundaries

Cyrville is bounded by the former Gloucester City limit to the north, west, and south, and by Aviation Parkway and Highway 417 to the east. The neighbourhood spans the former Ottawa-Gloucester boundary between Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward and Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward.
