Developed primarily in the 1950s and 1960s with bungalows, the neighbourhood later added townhouses behind Merivale Mall and at Viewmount's corner with Sullivan and Parkside. Originally part of Nepean, Crestview joined Ottawa through amalgamation in 2001.
About Crestview
Crestview takes its name from the distinctive crest shape of Viewmount Drive as it winds through the neighbourhood. Developed in the 1950s and 1960s, the area was originally part of Nepean before amalgamation with Ottawa in 2001.
Most of Crestview's original housing consists of bungalows typical of the era. Later development added townhouses behind Merivale Mall and in a section at Viewmount's corner with Sullivan and Parkside Crescent. Viewmount Drive originally ended at Merivale Road but was extended to Fisher Avenue in the early 1980s for Fisher Glen development.
Together with neighbouring Meadowlands, Crestview is served by the Crestview-Meadowlands Community Association. The neighbourhood benefits from proximity to Merivale Mall and the Merivale Road commercial corridor.
Location & Boundaries
Crestview is bounded by Meadowlands Drive to the north, Merivale Road to the east, the CN rail corridor to the south, and Woodroffe Avenue to the west. Viewmount Drive, originally ending at Merivale Road, was extended to Fisher Avenue in the early 1980s.
