About Kenmore
Kenmore's history dates to 1830 when former Rideau Canal construction worker John McDonald settled on the site of what would become the village. By 1840, a small settlement had formed, taking advantage of the Castor River for milling operations.
By 1866, Kenmore was a thriving post village with a population of about 80, featuring three stores, a flouring and saw mill, pearl ash factory, and tannery. The village served the surrounding agricultural community with essential services and processing facilities.
Today, Kenmore is a quiet residential community consisting of two small neighbourhoods and surrounding farmland. Kenmore Bicentennial Park and the Kenmore Community Centre provide gathering spaces for residents, while the village maintains its rural character within the former Osgoode Township area.
