About Copeland Park
Copeland Park was built in the late 1950s and early 1960s by A.B. Taylor Construction Ltd., with the first home completed in 1956. The neighbourhood stands out for its many mid-century modern (MCM) architect-designed homes, which have become increasingly valued for their distinctive design.
In the 1970s, a 21-storey high-rise called Castle Hill was built at the corner of Castle Hill Crescent and Clyde Avenue, now owned by Minto. Additional townhouses and three high-rises were added on Baseline Road during the same decade.
The neighbourhood is bordered by the Central Experimental Farm Pathway and is mostly surrounded by woods, creating a unique green setting unusual for a neighbourhood this close to central Ottawa. Schools that served the area included Agincourt Public School, St. Daniel's Catholic School (now a daycare), and Laurentian High School (closed 2005).
Location & Boundaries
Copeland Park is bounded by Agincourt Road to the west, Baseline Road to the south, Clyde Avenue to the east, and the Central Experimental Farm Pathway to the north. The neighbourhood is mostly surrounded by woods and green space.
