About Blossom Park

Blossom Park's history begins with early 19th century settlers including Charles Kinmond, James Spratt, and John Halpenny accessing their farms via Prescott Road, established in 1844. The first subdivision plan was filed in 1911 by the Bytown Suburb and Land Company, though the area remained rural until the 1950s.

The 1950s transformation created the original suburban character with bungalows on generous 150x100 foot lots along Central Boulevard (now Kingsdale Avenue). Saint Bernard School opened in 1955, followed by Blossom Park Public School in 1956. The Kmart Plaza (now Blossom Park Plaza) opened in 1970, and OC Transpo extended service in 1972.

Blossom Park experienced a significant influx of Italian immigrants in the 1970s who purchased vacant lots to build custom homes. This trend continued through the 1980s and 1990s with additional development and newer Canadian families, creating today's diverse multicultural community.
