About Highland Park
Highland Park's history is intertwined with Westboro, incorporated as a Police Village in 1905. The neighbourhood grew rapidly - from just 37 residents in 1906 to 375 by 1916. By 1944, Highland Park extended west to Denbury Avenue, though many lots beyond Broadview weren't developed until after WWII.
Ottawa's 1950 annexation of Nepean created duplicate street names, leading to renaming: Broadway became Broadview Avenue, Heney became Kirkwood Avenue, and Main Street became Churchill Avenue. In 1948, the city created Kiwanis Westboro Park from lands on Cole Avenue, and Dovercourt Recreation Centre opened there in 1987.
Highland Park is a mixed-income neighbourhood with large luxury homes closer to Richmond Road, middle-income century homes, and lower-income apartments near Carling Avenue. Nepean High School and Notre Dame High School are prominent community institutions.

Highland Park is bounded by Richmond Road to the north, Carling Avenue to the south, Golden Avenue to the east, and Denbury Avenue to the west. The neighbourhood borders McKellar Park to the west and Westboro to the east.
